Life's a Beach…

The Durban and Natal coastline boasts beautiful and unspoilt beaches with world-renowned surfing spots. Durban’s beaches are often referred to as the Golden Mile owing to the radiant beauty and charm of its coastal villages. The warm and inviting Indian Ocean make beach life a treat. Bathers can feel safe as they are protected all year by shark nets and trained lifeguards.

Surfing is synonymous with Durban, and if you are a beginner try Addington Beach, well known for its small waves and first time appeal. And for surfing stalwarts Durban’s 'hang-ten' history is displayed at the Timewarp Surfing Museum. Manned by the father-figure of the Durban surf scene, Baron Stander, one of the museum's aims is to encourage new generations into the much loved surfing culture of Kwazulu Natal.

For much less active experiences enjoy dolphin shows and fascinating marine life at UShaka Marine World, or visit the menacing creatures of the Snake Park.

After all these attractions feast your senses at trendy restaurants, pubs, amusement parks, African flea-markets and Zulu craft markets.

A much loved coastal town, north of Durban, is Umhlanga. Famous for its family resorts and picturesque beaches, Umhlanga is an ideal destination to rest and laze around on a magical holiday. Or head down South to the popular beach towns of Anstey's, Brighton, Cave Rock and Garvies.
