TEETHWHITENING
Over time, the natural aging process and your lifestyle (smoking or drinking coffee, tea, or wine) can stain your teeth, producing a dull and yellowed look and let’s face it - one of the first things you notice about people is their smile. When you meet someone with a bright, natural smile, it catches your attention.
Many people turn to "whitening" toothpastes that contain baking soda or hydrogen peroxide. These products work well at removing surface stains, but seem to fall short of providing that much "lighter smile" those patients are looking for.

A very effective way to whiten your teeth is by having the BriteSmile tooth whitening procedure. This is a safe yet very quick way to achieve that smile you have always dreamed of! In the span of an hour and half, you can whiten your teeth up to 14 shades lighter! The procedure is very safe for several reasons:
ONE ... only an approved professional dentist or oral hygienist can perform the procedure.
TWO ... the LED light used is very gentle; no potentially harmful laser or UV rays
THREE ... BriteSmile gel contains just 15% peroxide compared to the 35%+ of other light activated procedures.
Another effective and safe way to lighten teeth is through the use of home bleaching kits. Currently, these bleaching kits fall into 2 categories: 1) over-the-counter kits or 2) professional kits, available only through a dentist.
Over-the-Counter kits - Without the supervision of a dentist, it is possible to have adverse complications with over-the-counter bleaching products. Ill-fitting trays can cause gum tissue irritation, and over-exposure to the bleaching gel can cause sensitivity and erosion of tooth enamel. In general, the dental profession does not recommend store-bought kits.
Professional Kits - A safe and effective bleaching kit can be obtained through a dentist. First, it is recommended that teeth be professionally cleaned (prophylaxis) to remove any surface staining. The doctor will then examine the teeth and existing fillings (restorations) to be sure that any problems that may interfere with bleaching are addressed, such as decay or hypersensitivity. The dentist will custom make a mouth tray to provide maximum comfort and function. The bleaching gel is usually a thicker formula of carbamide peroxide, and most dentists use a product that is ADA approved. The doctor or hygienist will note the color or "shade" of the teeth prior to the first bleaching, which will be checked at various intervals. Your dentist will advise you on how long to wear the trays. Results can be seen within the first week (yeah!). A maintenance program will follow, in order to keep the teeth as white as desirable.
To get your smile back to looking its best, you should choose a whitening method that:
: Achieves the longest-lasting results
: Gives you the most naturally brilliant and uniform look
: Is clinically proven to be safe and effective
: Uses a low concentration of active ingredient (hydrogen peroxide)
: Is administered by dental professionals.
