The Republic of South Africa gained independence from the UK in 1910. The Head of State and Government is President Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki since 1999.
Religion
There is a strong Christian community of some form and belong to either Catholic, Anglican and other protestant denominations. There are also significant Hindu, Muslim and Jewish communities, and traditional beliefs are still practised.
Visa Requirements:
The citizen who is a holder of a national passport from the United Kingdom and European Union is not required to hold a visa for an intended stay of 90 days or less and when in transit.
Vaccinations & health requirements:
When visiting South Africa it is important to establish exactly where the traveller intends to go. The Western and Eastern Cape are malaria free areas, and no prophylaxis are required. However if a BodyContours client wishes to travel to malaria areas it is recommended to take the necessary precautions. Malaria risk predominantly exists throughout the year in the low altitude areas of Limpopo, Mpumalanga Province (including the Kruger National Park) and northeastern KwaZulu Natal. Depending on the area in South Africa being visited, visitors may wish to consider precautions against Cholera, and Typhoid. It is not prevalent in the Western and Eastern Cape provinces where BodyContours operate.
